About the Board
The Board of Athletic Training (AzBAT) was created by the Arizona Legislature enacting Senate Bill 1202, which was signed by Governor Jane Hull on April 3, 2000. The bill set up the structure and functions of the Board of Athletic Training.

The Board regulates the profession of athletic training in the State of Arizona. To accomplish this the Board adopts rules regulating the practice of athletic training. The Board also take actions to enforce laws and rules dealing with athletic training.

Members of the Board are appointed by the Governor with the consent of the Arizona Senate. Three members are athletic trainers and two members are from the general public. Athletic training associations and individuals may recommend appointees to the Governor. Members serve five year staggered terms.
